INSTANT VOICE PRESS
Instant Voice Press is a technique that gives individuals the correct tone focus, natural pitch level and range, and the sound of their real voice. Often this technique is referred to as "pressing your magic button." Do not attempt this technique if you are experiencing any medical problems involving the area of the solar plexus or if you are pregnant.
Instant Voice Press Technique:
 1. Have the patient place one hand on the solar plexus, the center area
at the bottom of the
      breastbone.
-  2. Have the patient relax the stomach so it moves in and out as ther patient breathes.
-  3. Instruct the patient to hum with the lips closed while repeatedly
pressing the solar plexus
gently with his/her fingers in a light,
quick rhythm. "Hmmmmmm." (Hold it) "Hmmmmmm."
      "Hmmmmmm."
The gentle jiggling of the solar plexus will cause the "hmmmmmm"
to
break up into short bursts of sound like
"hmmm-hmmm-hmmm-hmmm..."
-  4. Have the patient do the exercise once again.
-  5. The patient should then close his/her lips and
hum while lightly pressing
     the fingers,
gently jiggling, at the bottom of the breastbone where the two
sides of the rib cage join.
-  6. As sound escapes, the patient should
feel a buzz around his/her mouth and
     nose.
The patient will be directing his/her voice into a mask area
precisely where
     it should be.
-  7. Next, instruct the patient to do Instant Voice Press
with the mouth open,
     saying "Ahhhhhh."
-  8. Have the patient try the exercise again;
adding a number while his/her
      press. Start with "hmm-
hmm-one," "hmm-hmm-two," "hmm-hmm-three," and so on.
-  9. Then use "ahh-ahh-one," "ahh-ahh-two," and so on.
- 10. Finally, carry this sound over to talking,
beginning with one word at a
      time. For example,
"Ahh-my-ahh-name-ahh-is-ahh_____." Keep this sentence

short and learn to talk on the buzz, which is a resonance around the
lips
      and nose.
- 11. Now, have the patient try without pressing
his/her magic button. The
      patient should raise both
hands high above the head and repeat the

following words with energy.
"RIGHT." "NO." "REALLY." These are called
buzzwords that bring the real voice forward.
- 12. Whenever the patient seems unable to locate the correct
pitch level
and focus, instruct her to revert to
the Instant Voice Press and use the
      "hmmm," "ahhh,"
and buzz words.
