Breathing

  1. The client should sit at rest and allow breathing to function as normally.
  2. The clinician should observe the breathing pattern.
  3. The clinician should instruct the patient to place their hand on the abdomen and the other on the upper chest.
  4. When effortless breathing has been established, the patient should be instructed to breathe a little more deeply and release exhalation as a sigh.
  5. The client should move from improved respiratory control to conversational speech.
