Breathing
- The client should sit at rest and allow breathing to function
as normally.
- The clinician should observe the breathing pattern.
- The clinician should instruct the patient to place their hand
on the abdomen and the other on the upper chest.
- When effortless breathing has been established, the patient
should be instructed to breathe a little more deeply and
release exhalation as a sigh.
- The client should move from improved respiratory control to
conversational speech.
