Voice produced is said to be produced by the true vocal folds (Lebmann, 1965; williams, Farquharson, & Anthon, 1975). Thus, in paitents who are usig ventricular fold phonation or those who are improperly using the vocal folds, it is theorized that this technique will stimulate more appropriate physiology.
The patient is instructed and shown how to make sound in the reverse of the normal pattern, that is, as air is being drawn into the lungs. Tell the client as they feel the air is being drawn into the lungs to phonate.
